The Preakness Stakes is this coming Saturday, and guess what? I'm going! The official drink of the Preakness is the Black Eyed Susan. Read on for how to make this traditional beverage.

I found a couple different recipes, so pick your favorite...

How to make a Black Eyed Susan According to the Preakness website

  • 3/4 of an ounce 42 Below Vodka
  • 1 ounce of Early Times Kentucky Whiskey
  • 3 ounces of Sweet and Sour Mix
  • 2 ounces of Orange Juice
  • Garnish with an orange slize and a cherry

How to make a Black Eyed Susan According to

  • 1 ounce vodka
  • 1 ounce rum
  • 3/4 ounce triple sec
  • Lime wedge
  • Pineapple juice
  • Orange juice
Fill a 12-ounce glass with ice. Add vodka, rum and triple sec. Add lime wedge and equal parts of pineapple juice and orange juice. Shake well and serve. Makes 1 serving. This refreshing drink can be made ahead of time in quantity for your party guests, and stored in a large pitcher or beverage server. Drinks can then be served quickly by filling a glass with ice, squeezing in a lime wedge, and filling the glass with the drink mixture.

I don't like Whiskey but I do love Rum, so I'd probably go with the recipe.
