Beach Riding

I'm so lucky to live in Florida where is stays warm well into December. (Though the last few days is has been downright freezing... Brrrrr...) Recently I was able to haul to the Beach with a group from by boarding barn and I have to say that there's nothing quite like Beach Riding. The experience was memorable and fun.

Zenyatta’s Bid for Perfection

Saturday, November 6th is Zenyatta's last race. This unbelievable mare is currently undefeated, a perfect 19 for 19. Zenyatta may be the greatest horse of all time. Her run for perfection comes to a head at the Breeders' Cup Classic. Catch the race at 6:15 pm on ESPN.

For a while now I've been wanting to feature stables that are drop dead gorgeous, that ooze elegance, that are the types of horse farm you would buy if you hit the Powerball. Finally I've got around to doing it. This "Drool Worthy Stable" is Still Point Farm of Wellington, Florida.

Sidesaddle developed as a way for women to ride their own horses, while maintaining a modest dress (riding astride in a long flowing skirt, probably not the most practical thing in the world) and because, you know, classy, chaste ladies keep their legs together.

Jillian Michaels likes Horses? Who Knew…

It's always a nice surprise to discover that a celebrity I like is a fellow equestrian. On the Biggest Loser, Jillian's no-nonsense approach to dealing with her trainees won my admiration. A take no prisoners attitude can come off as harsh, but if you watch her long enough you'll see the softer side of Jillian pop up from time to time. In the end her screaming and yelling, is her way of saying, "I care about you, now loose some weight!" Jillian's horse Buzz is a PMU rescue.
