All Gussied Up the Saddlebred
|
"Gus" is a sweet Chestnut Gelding who shows in Hunter and Jumping. Unlike many Hunter Under Saddle horses, Gus keeps his mane long for the show ring (he is a Saddlebred after-all.) I love his running french braid. Gus has an elegant Saddlebred neck, long flashy legs and a balanced body. One of the reason's I picked him to feature is he reminds me of my own mare and I love that he's winning Championships and Reserves in Hunter even though he isn't the typical breed most people think of when they picture a Hunter horse.

"Fable" is a gorgeously built uphill Sporthorse stallion. Fable is only the 2nd registered and approved Knabstrupper stallion currently standing in the United States. Knabstrupper's a rare horses that have the markings of an Appaloosa and the build of a warmblood and Fable is a prime example of what this breed is all about.

A true black, Redwine's four white socks and blaze stand out in striking contrast to his inky coat. Redwine was "awarded admirable scores in all areas, most notably rare 10's for character, constitution and rideability." during his testing in Germany. Over fences, Redwine has beautiful form, tucking his knee high and perking his ears forward for an alert and eager expression.

Novalis is an accomplished Jumper with nearly $200,000 in lifetime earnings. I have to say, while a beautiful boy, his head and neck seem a little overly large for his body in some of his photos. Nonetheless he is athletically built with a very expressive face.

Check In has a beautiful and expressive face. His perfect star right between the eyes combined with his nose diamond make for some classy face markings. Besides being a gorgeous boy, Check In has prefect form over fences; he defines bascule. He was the Reserve Champion Stallion of the OS Licensing in 2005 and 2007. Check out more photos of Check In, including a glamor shot.

That's right, Saddlebreds can do more than just Saddleseat. This is Bravo, an American Saddlebred Gelding that does dressage and "loves to jump".

First off. I would like to apologize for the long absence of posts. I was feeling overwhelmed by the internet (websites ARE my day job) and I just needed a break from the daily posting. Moving on, today's featured Show Horse isn't a horse at all. This is Porter a very impressive Show MULE. This guy is a Jack (haha) of all trades; Dressage, Jumping, Trail and more. Plus his ears and expressive eyes are super cute.
