Thin and Underweight, Whisper the mare and her fellow horse Traveler, were the victims of a neglectful and ignorant owner. Both horses were severely underweight and Whisper's back was burned from a home remedy gone wrong. Her neglectful owner had tried to cure a fungal infection by apply Kerosene. But things are looking up for Whisper and Traveler because they are being adopted by country music legend Willie Nelson.

Suki the Horse Recovers from Severe Burns Sustained in Barn Fire

I came across this heart warming story and just had to share it. Suki the Oldenburg suffered severe burns in 2009 all over her face and back in a horrific barn fire. When many owners would have put the mare to sleep, Frances Wade-Whittaker was persuaded by her horse's fiesty spirit to give her a fighting chance at survival.

A Shire mare recently birthed twin foals in Llandysul, Ceredigion Wales. Twinning is rare in horses. It most often results in the death of one or both twins. But happily that was not the case for show horse mom Penlan Ceri Rose.

Regina of Germany wanted a horse, but her parents said no. So the resourceful teen trained one of the family's cows to ride and jump. The two share a remarkable bond that was cultivated over many hours spent together during training. Two years later "Luna" can hack with best of them. (I especially like Regina's fashion sense and the fact the cow goes in a simple halter.)

Zenyatta’s Bid for Perfection

Yesterday I learned through a comment at a horse blog I enjoy that Blue Hors Matine; the internet sensation, the dancing horse, had to be put down due to a pasture accident. She broke her leg at the knee and there was nothing that could be done for her.
